Active Science
Drumming is a fun and interactive way for individuals with disabilities to participate in a creative, verbal and nonverbal manner, having fun in a combined group environment which will allow a sense of belonging and community among participants. The program is designed for the participant and their siblings to have drumming time while the parents or the caretaker are relaxing or socializing with other families.
Lead by Rick Laus, RML Jazz Band. Offered one Saturday a month from 9:30-11am at Bennett Park. |
Adaptive Yoga
Our adaptive yoga program welcomes all bodies and abilities, it's accessible to everyone. Chants, songs, breathing activities, yoga poses and time for relaxation. Each part of the yoga practice will be adapted to meet the needs and abilities of each participant. We encourage this to be a family program with parents and siblings, giving the entire family an opportunity to explore their bodies, hearts and minds. Lead by Beth Rich,
Licensed practitioner with yoga for all abilities. Offered two Fridays a month from 9:30-11am at Bennett Park. |
Recruiting Smiling Volunteers!
B-Active creates smiles for more than our riders and their families. Our program volunteers leave feeling overjoyed knowing they made an otherwise impossible experience, possible (and get a little exercise in, too)! We are actively recruiting bike pilots and side riders who accompany the family. If biking is not your passion, we also need a hand with the craft activities and the Creative Arts program.
Biking volunteers are required to complete training and a background check. Pilots must be 18 years or older and comfortable using a bike with an electric assist. |
“Next to a leisurely walk I enjoy a spin on my tandem bicycle. It is splendid to feel the wind blowing in my face and the springy motion of my iron steed. The rapid rush through the air gives me a delicious sense of strength and buoyancy, and the exercise makes my pulse dance and my heart sing.”
