Adaptive Bike Rides
A "free" biking experience
for children, teens and young adults with special needs.
Always B Smiling’s biking program offers adaptive bike rides to children and young adults that may not be able to ride a bicycle on their own. The adaptive bicycle is powered by a trained volunteer allowing the children to get outdoors and enjoy time with family and friends. The 9-mile ride on the Montour Trail ends with ice cream and a craft activity for the entire family. Family is encouraged to ride along and at least one family member or caretaker must be present.

Always B Smiling is partnering with Fine Art Miracles to offer outdoor therapy with an opportunity to move and have fun.
This will be an opportunity for the entire family to enjoy. For the child and siblings,
it will include dance and movement, drumming, music and movement, or yoga, and for mom and dad writing
or yoga therapy. Each day will be a different therapy and it will end with ice cream for the entire family.

Recruiting Smiling Volunteers !
|
The smiles extend beyond our riders and the families we touch. Our program volunteers leave feeling overjoyed they could make an otherwise impossible experience possible (and get a little exercise in, too)! We are actively recruiting bike pilots and side riders who accompany the family. If biking is not your passion, we also need a hand with the craft activities and Creative Expressions program.
Volunteers are required to complete training and a background check. Pilots must be 18 years or older and comfortable using a bike with an electric assist. |
