A "FREE" biking experience for children with special needs and their families!
Always B Smiling’s bike program offers adaptive bike rides to children and young adults that may not be able to ride a bicycle on their own. The adaptive bicycle is powered by a trained volunteer allowing the children to get outdoors and enjoy time with family and friends. The 9-mile ride on the Montour Trail ends with ice cream and craft activities at The Tandem Connection, Canonsburg, PA.

Recruiting Smiling Volunteers !
The smiles extend beyond our riders and the families we touch. Our program volunteers leave feeling overjoyed they could make an otherwise impossible experience possible (and get a little exercise in, too)! We are actively recruiting bike pilots and side riders who accompany the family. If biking is not your passion, we also need a hand with the after-bike crafts.
Volunteers are required to complete training and a background check. Pilots must be 18 years or older and comfortable using a bike with an electric assist. |
“Next to a leisurely walk I enjoy a spin on my tandem bicycle. It is splendid to feel the wind blowing in my face and the springy motion of my iron steed. The rapid rush through the air gives me a delicious sense of strength and buoyancy, and the exercise makes my pulse dance and my heart sing.”
